This study was assessed the dietary practices, frequency of food consumption, nutritional timing,&#13;
and knowledge about nutrition among adult football club players in the Dire Dawa City&#13;
Administration Ethiopia. A cross-sectional study design was used, and 137 players from different&#13;
football clubs were chosen by systematic random sampling according to preset inclusion criteria.&#13;
A structured questionnaire was used to gather the data, and SPSS version 26.0 was used for&#13;
descriptive statistical analysis. The findings of the study were served as a reference for improving&#13;
sports nutrition education in the region and beyond. The results indicated that only 45% of players&#13;
consumed macronutrients within the recommended range, with deficiencies observed in proteinrich foods and vegetable intake. Moreover, 60% of players exhibited moderate nutritional&#13;
knowledge, while 70% reported inadequate alignment of meal timing with training and&#13;
competition requirements. Statistical analysis revealed significant gaps in dietary practices and&#13;
nutrition timing that could potentially impact player performance. This study highlights the critical&#13;
need for improved nutritional education, access to well-balanced meals, and adherence to&#13;
consistent meal timing among football players in Ethiopia. It is recommended that football clubs&#13;
and policymakers collaborate to implement nutrition education programs and facilitate better&#13;
meal planning and access. Further research should explore the barriers to optimal nutrition and&#13;
evaluate interventions to align dietary practices with evidence-based global nutritional guidelines,&#13;
tailored to Ethiopia’s context.

<title>IMPACT OF NUTRITIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND DIETARY HABITS ON WEIGHT MANAGEMENT OF FITNESS PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS</title>
<link>http://ir.haramaya.edu.et//hru/handle/123456789/8460</link>
<description>IMPACT OF NUTRITIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND DIETARY HABITS ON WEIGHT MANAGEMENT OF FITNESS PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS
Hiwot Legese Abebe; Desta Enyew (PhD); Shemelis Mokennen (PhD)
In developing nations like Ethiopia, poor weight management has become more prevalent&#13;
recently. Individuals may differ in their comprehension and implementation of nutritional&#13;
knowledge and good eating practices. Numerous well-educated people struggled with weight&#13;
control, and little research was done on how dietary practices and nutritional knowledge&#13;
affected body weight management. This study was to assess the nutritional knowledge and&#13;
dietary habits of fitness program participants and their impact on weight management in&#13;
selected Harar fitness center practitioners. An experimental study design was conducted in&#13;
selected Harar fitness centers from June 25-Augest 25, 2024. The total sample size of this&#13;
study was 247 fitness center participants. A simple random sampling technique was used to&#13;
select fitness centers. Enrolling randomly selected fitness center participants in a&#13;
selfadministrative, structured questionnaire was used to collect data. Data was entered into&#13;
epidata version 4.6 and analyzed by SPSS Version 26.0. Descriptive statistics are used to&#13;
describe participants’ background characteristics and the nutritional knowledge and dietary&#13;
habits of fitness center participants. From the study, the total response rate was 98%. The&#13;
majority of respondents were the ages of 27% (18-24) and 28% (25-30) years. From the&#13;
total study participants, 214 (87%) were male and one hundred fifty-seven (64%) with a 95%CI (57.7-71.0%) of the respondents had a normal range body mass index. Harar fitness&#13;
center participants have good nutritional knowledge (28.6%) and good dietary habits&#13;
(81.6%). In conclusion, the effect of nutritional knowledge and dietary habits on managing&#13;
body weight is positive. But in the Harar city fitness center, participants’ nutritional&#13;
knowledge and dietary habits were above the mean. We recommended that critical&#13;
intervention on nutritional knowledge and dietary habit awareness will be important to&#13;
manage body weight. The impact of nutritional knowledge, dietary habits practice, and&#13;
physical activity is very important to body weight management practice.

Cardiovascular endurance is a component of physical fitness which plays great role during&#13;
exercises. The primary purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of selected types of&#13;
aerobic exercise on cardiovascular endurance of students. The study was conducted to improve&#13;
cardiovascular endurance on 30 male students of Burka Meta secondary school of Grade 11&#13;
students. These thirty male students were assigned as experimental and Control group their age&#13;
ranges 18 and 20 years. All subjects participated in selected aerobic exercises for 12 weeks i.e.,&#13;
three days per week and 60 minutes duration per day. Pre-test, during training test and post&#13;
training test were conducted on physical fitness variables such as step test and 12 minutes run.&#13;
The data collected from subjects were analyzed by paired simple t-test to determine the&#13;
differences between pre-test and post-test mean value results of the participants of the study. The&#13;
mean value for Step Test before training was 51.2 m and 51.1 m for EXGr and CONG and after&#13;
training was 67. 1m and 51.7 m for EXGr and CONGr after 12 week training program. The&#13;
mean value of pre training tests of twelve minutes run for EXGr and CONGr was 1700 m and&#13;
1740 m, and during post-test results of 12 minutes run for EXGr and CONGr were 2284 m and&#13;
1753 m were observed. Therefore, the results obtained from the study indicate that there were&#13;
significant improvements within 12 minutes run. However, in the case of steps test, a test result&#13;
was decreased because of improvement in the performance. So, the findings of the study reveals&#13;
different responsible bodies like coaches, sport commission office, education office, school&#13;
principals and sport Science teachers should take considerable actions for the improvement of&#13;
the Athletics proficiencies of the students as well as others youth

Cardiovascular endurance and reaction time are crucial for health and physical performance. &#13;
Strawberry juice supplementation and aerobic exercise have shown potential benefits for &#13;
cardiovascular health and cognitive function. The purpose of this study was to investigate the &#13;
effects of strawberry juice supplementation and aerobic exercise on the cardiovascular &#13;
endurance and reaction time of Third-year sport science students at Oda Bultum University. An &#13;
experimental pretest-posttest design was employed. A total of 21 students were included using &#13;
census sampling and randomly assigned to three groups: Strawberry Juice Group, Aerobic &#13;
Exercise Group, and Aerobic Exercise with Strawberry Juice Group. The Aerobic Exercise &#13;
group engaged in 45 minutes of aerobic exercise three times per week for 8 weeks. The Aerobic &#13;
Exercise with Strawberry Juice group received both strawberry juice supplementation 500 mL of &#13;
strawberry juice (Alang brand) and engaged in aerobic exercise. The Strawberry Juice group &#13;
consumed the strawberry juice but did not engage in the Aerobic exercise. Cardiovascular &#13;
endurance was assessed via a 12-minute run test, and reaction time was measured using a ruler &#13;
drop test. Data were collected at baseline and after the 8-week intervention period. Analysis was &#13;
conducted using paired sample t-tests for within-group comparisons and two-way MANOVA &#13;
with post hoc Bonferroni multiple comparisons for between-group differences using SPSS &#13;
version 26 (p &lt; 0.05). Results showed significant improvements in cardiovascular endurance &#13;
and reaction time for all three groups after eight weeks (p &lt; 0.05). Multiple comparisons &#13;
between groups revealed that the Strawberry juice with aerobic exercise Group showed more &#13;
significant changes in cardiovascular endurance and reaction time compared to the Strawberry &#13;
Juice Group and Aerobic exercise Group. In conclusion, the combination of strawberry juice &#13;
supplementation and aerobic exercise had a greater positive effect on cardiovascular endurance &#13;
and reaction time than either intervention alone among the sport science students
