Abstract:
This study is conducted with ultimate objective of comparing the nutritional statuses of selected
Ethiopian premier league clubs. Two sample Ethiopian premier league clubs were selected, from
sixteen participant clubs, (Hawassa Ketema and South Police football clubs) using purposive
sampling technique. Thus, by using census sampling technique, 56 players and 4 coaches were
included. In this study Descriptive Survey (Cross Sectional) design was employed. Direct
measurement was dominantly used as data collection instrument; questionnaire and observation
were also used in the process. The data gathered through questionnaires were analyzed by using
frequency counts and their percentages; accordingly, frequency counts with percentage and direct
calculation of the energy intake and expenditure has been employed to analyze various information
of the participant in the study. The major findings revealed that there is energy imbalance between
caloric intake and energy expenditure in both Hawassa Ketema and South Police football club
players. Moreover, all of the players had greater caloric intake than expenditure in both clubs.
