The purpose of the present study was to find out the effects of Hormonal contraceptiveuseron
health related physical fitness variablesfollowing physical fitness training periodin case of
natural Science female Students of Wollo University Dessie town, true experimental (pre -
posttest) with control group research method was employed to investigate the problem.
Purposivesampling techniques were used to select twenty recreationally active womenof age
19-24years old, and purposively assigned into groups’Hormonal contraceptive user (10)and
Non Hormonal contraceptive(10).Hormonal contraceptivegroup had been taken injectable
progesterone in addition to physical fitness intervention and both group participated in
physical fitnesstraining workouts 3 days/week for 12 weeks. The parameters selected for the
study were cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and
body composition. Pre-posttest were conducted for all 20 subjects on all health related
physical fitness variables and the score were recorded. Data those collected from health
related physical fitness variables measurements were analyzed through descriptive statistics
(mean ± Standard deviation) and paired sample T test (Mean difference, Standard deviation
mean and significance levels) and independent t- test to analyze and compare the statistical
(mean) difference between the results of two groups. The Hormonal contraceptive group pre
and posttest mean result for health related physical fitness variables were (cardiovascular
endurance, 38.9+1.2 and 43.66+1.10,muscular endurance 23.3+3.13and 27.1+3.48, muscular strength 14.2+1.87and 24.9+3.28, body composition 37.86 ± 3.96 and
38.3±2.47(lean mass) and flexibility 35.6+2.2and 41.8+2.20).The present study showed that
Hormonal contraceptive has significance effects on all health related physical fitness
variables except body composition. Based on the finding the researcher was eager to
recommend that physical training should be given for Hormonal contraceptive user. Even if
Hormonal Contraceptives are used to prevent pregnancy it can enhance the performance of
health related physical fitness of an individual except body composition. |
