The major objective of this study was to make an investigation into the challenge and Progress of
football in Bale zone focusing on three clubs ( i.e Robe and Goba kenema and RTC football
club). To achieve the intended objectives the researcher employ questionnaires (open and close
ended), interview (formal and informal), and focus group discussion as a tool to collect the
required data. The researcher employed a descriptive survey with mixed approach (qualitative
and quantitative) as a method of study, because, this method provides the researcher with detail
description of the existing condition about a problem under investigation.
Totally, 79 participants were involved to collect the required data. These are 54 football players,
6 coaches, 2 club leaders, 1 Zone sport commission head, and 15 sport professionals, former
players, and sport science teachers.
The finding indicates that, lack of sufficient budget, insufficient sport materials ,absence of
balanced incentives/ salary/ , and non-existence of attention from higher bodies of a club and
zonal sport commission office were identified as a problem for the development of football to
RTC football club, Robe and Goba kenema football club.
Hence, it’s concluded that, budget, sport facilities, lack of incentives and related factors are the
barriers that contribute to the declination of football to RTC, Robe and Goba kenema
footballclubs . Thus, it is recommended that the club administrators and Zonal sport commission
office need to look in to these problems in detail. The regional and federal football federation
ought to pay attention to minimize these and other related problems in order to improve football
at Zonal as well as in the woreda level. |
