dc.description.abstract |
The purpose of this study was to find out the Challenge and Causes of Low Participation of Female
Students in Physical Education Practical Sessions, In The Case of Jijiga High Schools. Descriptive
survey qualitative, quantitative design and purposive sampling employed for this study. Accordingly,
three research questions were formulated to guide the study. The participants of this study were four
physical education teachers, four directors, and from 1500, female students 150(10%) were selected by
using simple random sampling method. Thus 150 copies of questionnaires were distributed to two
secondary schools, for 54 grade 9 and 82 grade 10. Fourteen (14) questionnaires from Students did not
turn back. All the two secondary schools in Jijiga were selected. Data from the selected respondents
were gathered by using open ended and closed ended questionnaires for selected female students, for
4(100%) PE teachers and 4 (100%) school directors were selected by purposive sampling. The data
collected from quantitative data, questionnaire was tailed, tabulated and analyzed by percentages and
also qualitative data was too. Self- administered questionnaires were used to collect data the research
design for this study was descriptive survey method. The questionnaires contain total of 20 items. The
result of the research shows that the challenge and causes of low participation of female students in
physical education practical sessions were the involvements of students, teachers and parent committee
in promoting education toward PE was very low, the PE teachers do not equitable treatments of boys
and girls within activity program, the extent of administrative support to female students were very low.
Generally, the results elicited from the data analyzed were 67.6%. Finally, the possible suggestion of
summary, conclusion and recommendations were reached. |
