Abstract:
The primary purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of selected circuit training exercise on
health related physical fitness components: The case of grade nine and ten male with aged 14- 17yrs were selected purposive and simple randomly. Who were sedentary students at Yekatit23
secondary school, Addis Ababa among 1000 male students, Forty sedentary students, who were not
participated in any other physical fitness program by checked their body mass index, were selected
as subjects. They were prepared to participate in three month of training, three days per week for
40 minutes for the first month, 47 minutes for the second month and 54 minutes for the third month. The physical fitness variables were muscular strength, muscular endurance and flexibility. Data
were analyzed by using SPSS paired samples. Standing broad jump test was used to test muscular
strength with pair intelligent comparison of means at 95% confidence interval by using pre, during
and post-tests. The results indicated that there were significantly improvements in performance on
selected physical fitness variables due to the effects of selected circuit training exercise (p ˂ 0.05).
After12 weeks of training, the students’ superior profound health related physical fitness qualities.
In sit and reach test 32%, in standing broad jump test 32.8% and push up was 105.82%
improvements were observed. Therefore, these results indicated that the sort of the selected circuit
training exercises have a positive effect on health related physical fitness components that
enhancing the performance of subjects with little contribution in differentiating and selecting their
specific components.. It can be more realistic, if the selected circuit training exercises were used at
school or any physical fitness trainings. It would have significant effect on health related physical
fitness components. Physical education teachers, coaches and other physical fitness trainers should
use a selected circuit training exercises to achieve their target.
