dc.description.abstract |
The main purpose of the study is to examine the role of access control list on bandwidth mana
gement in higher public education institutions in Ethiopia. The main aim of this study was to i
dentify the role of access control list on network bandwidth management to in higher public ed
ucation institutions. The methodology employed to conduct this study was cross sectional surv
ey research. Simple random sampling method was used to select samples from study populatio
n and a purposive sampling method was used to select study areas. Questionnaire, semi stand
ardized face to face interview and observation were used to collect data. The results of the res
earch show that 70% of respondents agreed that network bandwidth consumers are graduate s
tudents. The data collected showed that all of the universities have in one way or the other
adopted bring your own device that is they allow their users without required user identity to c
onnect the campus wide network using their own devices.The study also found that internet co
nnectivity status for bandwidth consumption of ICT directorates of universities with M=2.58.
The study also found that the main challenge relating to access control list for bandwidth man
agement in higher public education institutions is the lack of appreciation for the importance
of access control list for bandwidth management. |
