Ethiopian TVET colleges are primarily designed to equip students/trainees with competent
technical skills which can be applicable for a particular trade, but, as everyone can realize
reliable and timely information sources are pre-requisites for the achievement of the set goal,
despite of today’s TVET College libraries in the Harari regional state are failing to attain its
objective. This study mainly aimed at assessing and exploring the actual types of available
library provisions, academic staff and students’ satisfaction, library facilities, resources and
services which contribute for quality education and the development of frameworks which
recover library users’ satisfaction and attain quality education. Thus, to achieve the objective
of this study, the researcher used a survey research design and the data were collected from the
selected TVET Colleges through simple random and stratified sampling techniques, with the
help of questionnaires, personal observation and interview data collection instruments
accompanied by descriptive statistical analysis and ANOVA test techniques using SPSS version
20 software. The study revealed that in the TVET Colleges of the regional state, there were inadequate
types of library resources, facilities and services ready for usage, as a result;
academic staff and students of the colleges were found dis-satisfied on most of the library
provisions. Furthermore; the students, academic and library staff identified most of the item
lists under library resources, facilities and services as library provisions which contribute for
quality education and almost all respondents agreed on the development of a framework which
enhance library users’ satisfaction and quality education. Thus, this research is essential to the
TVET College libraries, administration offices and the regional government to work closely
with stakeholders to fill the existing gaps of the library facilities, services and recourses for the
desirability by the academic staff and students to ensure quality education in the regional state. |
