Abstract:
The major purpose of this study was to assess the factors affecting teaching learning process in physical education in case of Gassera woreda secondary schools. To conduct the study, qualitative and quantitative method were employed. The total population of the study was 1400.The data instrument were questioner, interview and observation. The data were distributed and collected from 140 of sample population. Systematic random sampling were used for the sample population of students 140(10%) and availability sampling technique for two directors and 4 PE teachers were used. Data collected from the participant were analyzed using tables and interpreted by means of both qualitative and quantitative analysis method by using percentage and frequency. Hence, the finding of the study shows the majority of students(66%) in the sample schools have less interest to participate physical education class, environmental and materials (59%), sex (82%), Economical (51%) , physical and motivation factors (80%) are factors affecting teaching learning process in physical education. Hence, it is recommended that depending on the result of findings, concerned bodies such as parents, physical education teachers, school Directors, Zone and woreda educational bureau, etc., Should create awareness for students about the benefits of physical education subject. Physical education teachers should apply student centers teaching approach in order to motivate students.
