Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 12-week green coffee and aerobic
exercise on weight management in over weight students of Woldia University. Thirty (30) under
graduate natural and computational non sport science students free from any health problems,
with age group between 19 –23 years were selected by purposive sampling technique from the
total population of 595. The selected subjects were divided into 2 groups i.e. control (15) and
experimental (15). From those selected 30 subjects only 24 subjects were completed the study
from the initial up to the end. The experimental group of the subjects underwent 12 weeks’ green
coffee, consumed 5days per week. While, the control group continued with aerobics excises for
12 weeks, three days per week for 30-60 minutes. Pre-test, and post tests were conducted on all
variables such as BMI, BFP, WHR andLBM test each subject was tested at the same time of day.
The data collected from subjects were analyzed by SPSS version 20.0 and the comparison of
mean value results was carried out by paired sample t-test. The level of significance was p<0.05.
The finding of the present study showed BMI test from pre to post test was showed significant
change for experimental group (Mean Difference1.176) for male and (MD,2.26) for female in
experimental group and little change for control group (MD ,0.94) for male and (MD,0.91) for
female in control group, BFPtest pre to post test showed significant change (MD,2.63) for male
and (MD,3.15) for female in experimental group and little change showed (MD,1.23) for male
and (MD ,1.30) for female in control group, WHR test pre to post test showed significant change
(MD,0.026) for male and (MD,0.036) for female in experimental group and little change showed
(MD,0.25) for male and (MD ,0.26) for female in control group, LBM test pre to post test showed
significant change (MD,-1.60 for male and (MD,-1.83) for female in experimental group and
little change showed (MD,-1.35) for male and (MD ,-0.900) for female in control group So this
study concluded that 12-weeks green coffee consumption have a positive effect on weight
management of natural and computational non sport science over weight students of Woldia
University .
