Abstract:
The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of twelve-week calisthenics
training on selected health related physical fitness. The study designed was experimental
method. Complete randomized technique were used to select subjects as well as to assign
subjects for experimental group and control group. 30 male sample was taken purposively,
the selected subjects were divided into two equal groups as experimental and control groups
each with 15 members. Their age range was from 16-17 years. The experimental groups
performed calisthenics training three days in a week for three month as the training includes
sit up, push-up, shoulder stretch, and Standing Hamstring. The control groups did not
perform the selected calisthenics training unless both groups undergone normal physical
training program. Both groups had taken pre, during and post-testing. Pre training of the
two groups was measured by sit up test (for muscular endurance), by push up test (for
muscular strength), and flexibility was measured using sit and reach test. These all
measurements were recorded. After six weeks of calisthenics training, measurement during
training was taken in each parameter. After three months, post test measurement on the same
parameters was taken. The difference between the tests were analyzed statistically, with
paired “t” test at the level of significance was P<0.05 to determine the difference between
initial and final mean for participant. According to the result the mean difference value after
twelve week’s training in sit up performance by 15.60,in push up performance by 11.14,
mean difference was recorded, and in sit and reach test by 6.20 increments were observed
throughout the study period. The result indicated that there were significant improvement in
muscular endurance, muscular strength and flexibility. Based on this finding, it can be
concluded that calisthenics training has positive effect on improvement of selected health
related physical fitness Components of male players.
