Abstract:
The aim of this study was to compare the effects of aerobic exercises on improving three
health related physical fitness components such as cardiovascular endurance, flexibility
and body composition among College and secondary school male students of Machara –
Miceta administrative town. The total population size of the study is 2100 with age ranging
between 16 and 22 years. A total sample of 40 students was selected from 20 Technical
Vocational Educational Trainin and 20 also from senior secondary school using purposive
sampling. Before conducting the main research a pilot study was conducted to sharpen the
instrument. The design of the study is a quasi-experimental in which subjects were engaged
in low to moderate intensity aerobic exercise for 12 weeks, 3 days per week and 60 minute
duration at 60-80 maximum heart rates (MHR) per day from November 2019-January
2020. The data was collected using standardized fitness tests and analyzed using SPSS
(version 20.0). However, comparison of mean value results were carried out by paired
Sample t-test. The level of significance in the 12 min run test, was set Mean
difference -0.5 and -5.95bpm, while (p≤ 0.005) and (P≤ 0.001) significant values of both
SSS group and TVET group were observed respectively. However, the mean difference of
TVET group who had the value 2.3cm improved better performance than SSS group who
had the value 3.1cm in sit and reach test. The significant result of both target groups were
(p≤ 0.002) and (P≤ 0.004) increment were observed respectively. Whereas in body mass
index 1.2800 kg/m 2 mean difference in SSS group with (p≤ 0.001) and 0.184 kg/m 2 with
(P≤ 0.023) decrement were observed throughout the study period. The result obtained in
this study indicated that there were, significant improvement in cardio vascular endurance,
flexibility as well as there were significant reduction on body composition.
