Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to asses Nutritional Status and Factors Affecting Youth
Football youth Project trainees of Borena zone, Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia. The total
populations of the study were 81. There were 75 football youth project trainees in 3 sport
football youth projects in Moyale wereda and Yabelo town were selected as sample by using
purposive sampling. For this study relevant data were collected through observation,
questionnaire and interview. Then, the collected data were analyzed though descriptive
statistics of means, standard deviations and frequency and percentage. The result showed
that most of Borena zone football youth project trainees had poor nutritional status and
coaches had huge gap of knowledge and low awareness of how factors affects their attitudes
were very little about nutrients and its importance. Based on this the researcher recommends
that Borena zone sport office and concerned body should work jointly to improve good
nutrition practice and awareness of the trainees and coaches should motivate them to read
books that written concerning nutrition and sport to change their attitude towards sport
nutrition, nutrients and factor affecting, and nutritional education is needed for the coaches
which was involved in Borena zone football youth project trainees.
