dc.description.abstract The central issue of this study was to identify the challenges facing the teaching and learning of physical education .The objectives were to; identify the challenges related to resources in the teaching and learning of physical education, find out the attitudes of teachers and Students towards physical education and determine teachers’ preparedness in handling physical education lessons. This study utilized a descriptive survey design. The descriptive survey provided qualitative information from a representative sample of the sampling frame by the use of an interview guide, and questionnaires. The study was carried out in some of the Kofele Woreda high schools to seek practice and challenges of physical education teacher in teaching learning process. To gather data from 3 schools principal,4 vice prinicipal,8 physical education teachers 1634 students. In selections of sample population, purposive and random sampling techniques were used. The study was carried out with descriptive survey method and both qualitative and quantitative approaches were used. The main instruments of data collection were questionnaire, interview and observation checklist. Quantitatively analysis is made using table of descriptive percentage and then worded through quantitative.The information obtained from the questionnaire that was analyzed in terms of major finding indicated that there is greater consistency and greater compatibility in the response. The research instruments were piloted in three (3) s schools from Koffele Woreda of Arsi Zone.. Both quantitative and qualitative findings were reported based on the objectives of the study. The findings of the study indicated that the Teacher demonstrate no well during practical session, Schools have no sufficient materials for teaching and learning physical education class, Teaching physical education concerned challenges in practical class,There is problem that physical education teacher face teaching and learning process in schools specially with attitude of learning to word physical education. It is also recommended that depending on the results of the finding, during practical session Teacher organized by group and to Demonstrate well at practical period, .schools to fill shortage of materials teaching learning process For physical education teaching class especial for practice like jevalin,hurdle,shot put,discuss and washing water and Teachers Minimizing the large number of students class during practical session. Involved in curriculum development, special attention should be given to minimize the over crowdedness of students in the class during practical work. en_US
