Abstract:
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of strength training and groundnut
supplement on muscular strength of kombolcha wareda Male football trainees. 30 healthy
and volunteers trainees were selected by purposive sample from 62- trainees population in
case of the ages of participants who wanted by researcher to participate in the study were
restricted between 18-25 ages. Then those participants were divided into two groups by
randomization sampling as STG (strength training group=15) and STGN (strength training
and groundnut user group=15 ). STG was took only strength exercise and (STGN)G took
strength training and consume 43 grams of groundnut after 40 minutes sfter training was
completed . The training days were two days per week for 12-weeks. To collect data the
researcher used primary data which collected from trainees as pre& post-test. The collected
data were analysed by using SPSS version 20 software package at p<0.05 level of
significance and post hoc LSD multi comparison was used. The pre-test and post-test mean
value for muscle strength which recorded by sit up( repetition) from STG were 27.33 and
32.33 ,for (STGN)G 27.27 and 36.60 . The muscle strength pre-test and post-test mean value
which recorded by Burpees test were13.2&17.1for STG and 13.8 & 21.67 for STGN)G
respectively. there was a significant increase in all performance tests in both groups,
therefore The current study concluded that strength training supported with groundnut
supplement have positive effect on muscular strength toward enhancing athletes performance
in sport area So, sportsmen’s shall recommended as it used along with strength training to
get visible change.
