Abstract:
This study attempted to investigate the effect of conditioning exercise on selected skill related
physical fitness components at Fonko preparatory school. Quasi experimental research
design was used. The population of the study was 100 Fonko preparatory school grade 12
students with the age range 19-21. Out of 100 students the researches selected 50 grade 12
students by using random sampling technique the subjects were divided in to experimental
and control group by lottery methods. Experimental group engaged in conditioning exercises
programs for eight weeks (2 months) from June 01 to July 30/ 2021, with the frequency of 3
days per week with duration of 60 minutes per session. The skill related physical fitness
variables selected for the study were: 30m run, agility, reaction time, Coordination, balance
and power. Data were analyzed by using paired samples t- test with pair wise comparison of
means at 95% confidence interval for both pre and posttests, and across control and
experimental groups. The results indicated that there were significant improvements on skill
related physical fitness variables due to the effects of conditioning exercise training with
active rest (p ≤ 0.05). This study confirmed that conditioning exercise training with active
rest was significant to improve the speed, coordination, agility, balance, power and reaction
time variables. The study showed that students who were exposed to conditioning exercise
training have revealed positive out comes to wards the speed, coordination, agility, balance,
power and reaction time.
