dc.description.abstract |
The main objective of this study was to identify major problems of female students’ participation in teaching learning physical education (theoretical either practical) in Ticho Secondary Schoolworeda,Arsi Zone,Oromia Regional State. To achieve this study, descriptive survey design was used with qualitative and quantitative research approaches. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select 200 female students from two sample schools and availability sampling technique was used to select physical education teachers and school principal whereas questionnaire, observation and interview method of data collection was used to obtain adequate and reliable information. Quantitative data collecting approaches was used for the data that were collected through questionnaire from female students and physical education teachers. Qualitative data collecting approaches was used for the data that were collected through observation from PE teachers and interview from school principals. The data were analyzed through SPSS version 20.0. The findings of this study shows that lack of suitable playground, room for changing clothes, and over crowdedness of students in the school were found to be the significantproblem which influence the participation of female students in physical education class. Additionally poor culture of repairing and maintaining the available facility and equipment contribute alot for the low academic and physical fitness development of female students. As a result female students take part in PE sometimes which was the main problems for engagement of female students in physical education in either session. To this end, schools are recommended to do with stockholders in cooperation, providing the required facilities, assigning well qualified and trained female teachers in teaching PE can help a lot for the improvement of female students participation in Physical Education. Female students themselves should try their best to combat their difficulties in teaching learning physical education lesson in either session. |
