Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to find the effect of plyometric training the on long jump performance in male athletes in TiruneshDibaba National Training Center at Assela town. In this study, thirty voluntary beginner male athletes from TiruneshDibaba national athletics training center were selected. The target group was assigned experimental without control group. All measurements and tests were taken before and after the 12-weeks intervention program me of plyometric training. The study was analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics of t-test. According to the results of the inferential statistics of t-test on the effect of plyometric training, the Pre-test and post- test of long jump test means were 5.21 and 5.39 meters, respectively. The mean difference between the pre-post-test of LJT was found significant. While the result revealed that vertical jump test was increased by a PoT - PT mean difference of 1.300 cm and significant at P=0.001 after 12 weeks of plyometric training. The result further revealed that the means of the Pre-test and post-test result of speed tests were 3.30 and 3.26, respectively and the mean difference was found significant (P<0.001). In the case of the Agility test, the results showed that the pre-post test means of the subjects were 17.15 and 17.04, respectively. This results indicated that the pre-post test of the agility test was significantly reduced by a PoT - PT mean difference of 0.116 at P<0.001 probability level. Plyometric trainings have significant effects on the improvement of power, speed and agility of male athletes.
