Abstract:
The purpose of the study was to analysis female student’s performance of physical education practical class in secondary schools of goro gutu woreda. To this end, descriptive survey method was employed. To achieve these purpose, researcher selected 136(30%) of sample of female students through simple random sampling technique. Moreover, 3 physical education teachers, 1 supervisors, 1 head of woreda sport commission representative and 2 school principals totally, 6(100%) of sample size were selected using available sampling technique. The quantitative data generated through closed ended questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive statistics like percentage and frequency, and qualitative data collected through interview, open ended questionnaire and focus group discussion were narrated and analyzed in words. The study findings indicate the benefit which the female students are getting was recorded very low (38.2%) and low (24%). Regarding teaching methods of practical activity, mostly female students (63.2%) respond poor approach of the teacher for the female students. The appropriateness of the school curriculum for female students in practical activity was recorded low (48%) very low (24%). Required resources like martial and equipment found very low in the school. In addition, lack of time, socio-cultural influence, lower economic status, body image, safety and lack of support, lack of appropriate educational system were the factors affected the participation of female students in physical education practical classes. To this end, develop the awareness of the society, doing interactively with the stakeholders, using appropriate teaching methodology, providing the required facilitates, society must encourage female students to engage in different physical education activities can help in improvement of the performance of female students
