The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 12-week Aerobic Exercise on the Maximum Oxygen Consumption and Lactate Threshold of Third Year Sport Science Students at Dire Dawa University. Thirty-six (36) under graduate third year sport science students free from any health problems, with age group between 20 – 25 years were selected by random sampling technique from the total population of 77. Hence, only 36 subjects were complete the study and purposive sampling was used to select sex and department of subjects in relation with the study site. The selected subjects were divided into 2 groups i.e. control (18) and experimental (18) groups randomly each group con-sisting 18 students (9 males and 9 females).. Before training, and after training were conducted on both variables such as 12 minutes cooper test and 30-minutes time trial test each subject was tested at the same time of day. The data collected from subjects were analyzed by SPSS version 25 and the comparison of mean value results was carried out by paired sample t-test. The level of VO2 max sig-nificance was from before to after training test was showed significant change for experimental group (Mean Difference 6.4) for male and (MD5.3) for female in experimental group and little change for control group (MD ,0.36) for male and (MD,0.17) for female in control group, also 30 miunte time trial test before to after training test showed significant change (MD, -10.2) for male and (MD,-8.9) for female in experimental group and little change showed (MD,-0.2) for male and (MD ,-0.6) for female in control group. According to the study's findings, 12-weeks of aerobic exercise helps the experimental subjects' VO2 max and lactate threshold. |
