Abstract:
This study was aimed at investigating the effect of Plometric exercise on power and agility of U 17 male football project trainees.. Experimental Research design was used. From the total of 25 
U-17 male football project trainees, only 20 U-17 male football trainees were selected through 
available sampling technique. The study subject was assigned in to two groups Experimental 
group (n=10) and Control group (n=10) by using purposive sampling techniques. EG perform 
polyometric exercise regularly for 12 weeks, where as CG perform polymetric exercise 
irregularly for 12 weeks. All subjects participated in low, moderate and high intensity 
plyometric exercise performance tests: Pre and post-tests were conducted in both parameters 
such as Vertical jump and T-Test. The data collected from the subjects were analyzed by using 
SPSS version 20.0 software package at p<0.05 and the comparison of mean value result were 
carried out by paired t-test. The pre test mean value for BMI test result was 21.63±0.99 for EG 
and 19.60±0.84 for CG .lastly the posttest mean value was recorded as 20.92±0.83 for EG and 
19.60±0.83 for CG respectively. The Vertical jump test mean value result on pretest was 
40.800±2.616 for EG and 40.00±4.082 for CG while at post test recorded as 43.500±4.116 for 
EG and 40.300±2.907 for CG respectively. The pretest result of T-test was 10.62±0.672 for EG 
and 10.85±0.907 for CG where as 9.800±0.548 for EG and 10.309±0.584 for CG on post test 
result. As the above result obtained in this study there were ,a significant improvement in BMI, 
power and agility on EG. The present study concluded that plyometric exercises have a positive 
effect on BMI, power and agility of the study subjects. So this study concluded that 12- week 
plyometric exercise has positive effect of enhancement of BMI, power and agility of u-17 male 
football project trainees. For producing powerful and agility football players the concerning 
body must include Plyometric training techniques as a main training session.
