dc.description.abstract Background: Intimate partner violence is a global public health problem. Millions of women suffer from violence consequences, which are a serious violation of women‟s human rights. In sub Saharan Africa including Ethiopia, Intimate partner violence and marital violence is highly prevalent. To the best of investigator knowledge, studies related to intimate partner violence on married women of reproductive age group are very limited in Ethiopia particularly in this study area. Objective: To assess the prevalence of Intimate partner violence and associated factors among married women of reproductive age group in Hossana town, south Ethiopia town, Hadiyya zone, south Ethiopia, from March1-15/ 2019. Methods and Materials: A community based cross-sectional study design was used among 602 married women. Systematic sampling technique was used to select the study samples. Data were collected by pretested structured questionnaire. The collected data were coded and entered onto Epidata version 3.1 software and exported to SPSS version 20 for analysis. Multivariable logistic regression used to identify factors associated with Intimate partner violence Results: The prevalence of Intimate partner violence among married women was 58.8 %( 54.8- 62.4).Partner‟s who drank alcohol [(AOR= 1.44, 95%CI) (1.133-2.09)]Partner‟s smoke cigarettes [(AOR=4.16,CI)(2.117-8.20)]partner‟s experience of Fighting habit with other people [(AOR=1.56CI)(1.06-2.29)Has another wife[(AOR=1.60 CI (1.09- 2.36)]low and medium households [(AOR= 2.97 CI (1.41-6.27)] [(AOR=2.636 CI (1.173-5.920)]were significantly associated with Intimate partner violence. Conclusion and Recommendation: study indicated that prevalence of Intimate partner violence found to be high. This needs an urgent attention at all levels of societal hierarchy including policymakers, stakeholders. en_US
