dc.description.abstract Background: Domestic violence is a major public health problem across the world particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa. In Ethiopia; however, despite of many studies done on domestic violence against women, the controversy of its associated factors between the studies highlights the importance of analyzing factors specific to the population under the study. Objective:To determine the magnitude and associated factors of domestic violence against married women by their husband in Kombolcha Woreda, East Hararge Zone, Oromia Regional State of Ethiopia. Methods: communitybased cross-sectional study was done in Kombolcha Woreda East Hararghe zone from April 1 to 15, 2019.A total of 579married women were selected by systematic random sampling methodfrom randomly selected kebeles of KombolchaWoreda.Data were collected by face to face interview by four female Midwifery nurses using structured questionnaire adapted from WHO research guidelines on violence.Descriptive statics using percentages mean and standard devaiation was used to compute the independent outcome variables. Then, bivariate and multivariate analysis was computed using logistic regression toidentify predictors of domestic violenceandto control the confounding effect of other variables. P value < 0.05 was used as a cut off point for statistical significance. Results:The proportion of married women who experienced any forms of domestic violence was found to be 60.8% with 95%CI (56.6%,65.0%).Husband substance use(AOR=2.24,CI:1.40,3.60),maritalduration(AOR=0.51,CI:0.28,0.937),women decision making power (AOR=1.54,CI:1.03,2.31), marital controlling behavior(AOR=1.54,CI:1.02,2.31) and attitude towards wife beating(AOR= 2.76,CI:1.71, 4.44) were significant factors associated with domestic violence. Conclusions: The magnitude of domestic violence against married women was found to be 60.8%.Husband substance use, marital duration, women decision making power, marital controlling behavior and attitude towards wife beating was significant factors of domestic violence against women. Thus, efforts shoud be made to empower women, changing community attitude and preventing substance use en_US
