dc.description.abstract Background: Prevention of mother-to-child transmission is a term used to describe a package of services intended to reduce the risk of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (MTCT).Globally, there were 1.8 million children living with HIV, 110,000 AIDS-related deaths, and 150,000 new infections among children in 2015. Despite the fact that client satisfaction with prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV(PMTCT) services is essential for improvement of maternal and child health, factors affecting it service is not well known documented in the study area. Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the client satisfaction on Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV services in public health facilities of Diredawa city administration, Eastern Ethiopia 2018. Methods: Quantitative Institution based cross-sectional study design were used among randomly selected five health facilities from ten health facility from January 15/2018—February 15/2018. Systematic sampling technique was used to select 522 study-participants.Structured questionnaire was used to collect data. Data were entered on to Epidata version 3.02 statistical software and cleaned for implausible and missed values. Then data were exported to Statistical Software Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20 for analysis. Bi-variate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were computed to identify factors associated with the satisfaction of clients with the service. Adjusted odds ratios with 95% confidence interval were calculated; pvalue less than 0.05 were considered as statistically significant. Result: The result showed that of 522 clients’ who accessed antenatal care services, 82.2 %( 95%CI: 66.4%, 74.35) were satisfied with PMCT service provided. women who received the service from hospital(AOR=2.34,95%CI:1.5,3.98) women who had no formal education(AOR=2.53,95%CI:1.52,4.2) with primary education(AOR=2.17,95%CI:1.17,4.04) being similar counselor in pre and post HIV test(AOR=4.93,955CI:2.98,7.17) gestational age >12 weeks(AOR=1.74,95%CI:1.12,2.71) waiting time <2hours (AOR=2.31,95%CI:1.28,4.16) were significantly associated with PMCT service satisfaction. Conclusion: The overall satisfaction of the clients is relatively high. However, in more than half case (55%), were unsatisfied with availability of laboratory service. Type of institution, educational status, gestational age and waiting time to see a counselor were associated with satisfaction. So more efforts should be exerted on improving test supplies and equipment and service needed. en_US
