Abstract:
This study was aimed at investigating the effect of Plometric exercise on power and agility of U 17 male football project trainees.. Experimental Research design was used. From the total of 25
U-17 male football project trainees, only 20 U-17 male football trainees were selected through
available sampling technique. The study subject was assigned in to two groups Experimental
group (n=10) and Control group (n=10) by using purposive sampling techniques. EG perform
polyometric exercise regularly for 12 weeks, where as CG perform polymetric exercise
irregularly for 12 weeks. All subjects participated in low, moderate and high intensity
plyometric exercise performance tests: Pre and post-tests were conducted in both parameters
such as Vertical jump and T-Test. The data collected from the subjects were analyzed by using
SPSS version 20.0 software package at p<0.05 and the comparison of mean value result were
carried out by paired t-test. The pre test mean value for BMI test result was 21.63±0.99 for EG
and 19.60±0.84 for CG .lastly the posttest mean value was recorded as 20.92±0.83 for EG and
19.60±0.83 for CG respectively. The Vertical jump test mean value result on pretest was
40.800±2.616 for EG and 40.00±4.082 for CG while at post test recorded as 43.500±4.116 for
EG and 40.300±2.907 for CG respectively. The pretest result of T-test was 10.62±0.672 for EG
and 10.85±0.907 for CG where as 9.800±0.548 for EG and 10.309±0.584 for CG on post test
result. As the above result obtained in this study there were ,a significant improvement in BMI,
power and agility on EG. The present study concluded that plyometric exercises have a positive
effect on BMI, power and agility of the study subjects. So this study concluded that 12- week
plyometric exercise has positive effect of enhancement of BMI, power and agility of u-17 male
football project trainees. For producing powerful and agility football players the concerning
body must include Plyometric training techniques as a main training session.
