Abstract:
Urban green spaces management a number of functions and provide a diversity of benefits to 
the urban residents. The benefits of green spaces in the urban spatial environment today 
viewed within the prism of sustainable development and in that sense, urban green spaces 
provide. The study was focused on the title of urban green space management and 
accessibility in Hossana town administration. The main objective of the study was urban 
green space management and accessibility. This study used primary and secondary source of 
data. From Primary data was collected from the study area using questionnaire, organizing 
interview and conducting field observations, and primary source of data questionnaires were 
selected and the secondary source of data journals, books, references. The population of the 
study was 56,000 and the sample size of the study was 138. The sampling technique that was 
employed in this study was purposive sampling technique and mixed method type applied on 
cultural, demographics factors, and socio-economic status of green space, physical proximity, 
and awareness on benefit of green spaces, plan implementation problems, management 
practices, ritual factors, diversity training, and beliefs. The statistical model namely binary 
logit were employed to assess the use of urban green space management and accessibility. 
The finding of the study was show that age of household head, sex, education, status of the 
green space, awareness on benefit of green space, plan implementation problem were affect 
urban green space management negatively while marital status, ritual factors, diversity 
training, beliefs, management practices participation in tree planting campaign were 
significant factors that affect green space management positively. The study recommended 
urban green space management should emphasize above factors on urban green space to 
make more accessible beside this existing urban green space management and accessibility 
should be more participatory.
