dc.description.abstract Camel Pasteurellosis and Mannhemiosis are a respiratory disease of camels caused by pas teurella and mannhemia spp of Pasteurellaceae family of bacteria; hence, reliable information is needed to know the contribution of these bacteria in causing of pneumonia in camel and its prevention for optimum control of the disease. The cross-sectional study was conducted from August 2021 to March 2022 in Babile district of eastern Ethiopia. The aim was to isolate Pas teurella and Mannheimia species, to assess the associated risk factors from pneumonic and apparently healthy camels and antibiotic susceptibility profiles of the isolates. Out of 194 samples (144 nasal swabs and 50 lung tissues) examined, 26(13.4%) was found to be the over all prevalence of Pasteurella and mannhemia species with isolation proportion of Mannheimia haemolytica18 (9.3%) and Pasteurella multocida 8(4.12%). Pasteurella species were more frequently isolated from pneumonic (10.8%) camels than non-pneumonic ones (2.58%). The antimicrobial susceptibility profiles of the isolates were carried out using disc diffusion meth od. The isolates were susceptible to most of the antimicrobial disks used such as: chloram phenicol (100%), norfloxacin (100%), kanamycin (83.33%) and tetracycline (72.22%). How ever, they were moderately sensitive to streptomycin (5.56%) and completely resistant to am picillin (0%) and vancomycin (0%). All the tested isolates for pathogenicity tests showed high degree of pathogenicity by killing 100% of tested mice within 24hrs.Thus, use of effective broad-spectrum antimicrobials like norfloxacin and tetracycline as a prophylactic, and treating of sick animals with norfloxacin, tetracycline and kanamycin are highly advisable to mini mize the influence of this disease in the study area. en_US
