dc.description.abstract The main purpose of this study was to explore student perceptions of physical education and non physical education teachers and its effect on classroom practices in Secondary Schools of Asella Town, Oromia Regional State. The sample of study consisted of 196 students, 16 physical education teachers, and 39 non-physical education teachers and overall a total of 251. The research method employed was a descriptive survey. Regarding sampling technique, students were selected from each sample by using purposive sampling technique for physical education teachers, and the non-physical education teachers were selected by using simple random sampling technique. Data were procured through the use of questionnaires and semi-structured interviews guides from students, physical education teachers and non-physical education teachers about teacher-student interaction. The major findings of this study indicated that physical education teachers were not respected by students in the school (67%),the interclass relationship between the students and physical education teachers was not smooth in the school under study (30%) and better attention was not given by students to physical education teachers as that of nonphysical education teachers in the school under study (61%). Therefore, on the basis of the findings, the researcher recommended that the physical education teachers should participate in different school sport programs effectively and be respected by the students in the school. Students should support physical education teachers and learning conditions. Physical education teachers should make smooth relationship with students patiently when they ask questions, and better attention should been given for physical education teachers by students in order to improve the teaching learning process. So, student perceptions of physical education should be improved as that of nonphysical education teachers. en_US
