Abstract:
Background: Cardiovascular diseases are the most common causes of mortality and morbidity among diabetic patients.
Aspirin is recommended for primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases in diabetic patients who are eligible for therapy based on the active international guidelines. Despite the recommendations, aspirin is underused in these patients. And there is no data showing the use of aspirin in Ethiopia as well as in Harar
Objective: To evaluate the use of low dose aspirin among diabetic patients for cardiovascular disease prevention at diabetic out patient follow up at diabetes clinic of Hiwot Fana Specialized University Hospital Eastern Ethiopia
Method- A health facility based cross sectional study will be conducted on 216 randomly selected adult diabetic patients who are attending in diabetic out-patient clinic in Hiwot Fana specialized university hospital and we will utilize quantitative method of data collection using a pre tested structured questionnaire. Data will be entered to Epidata version 3.1 and transported to SPSS version 23 for analysis. Binary logistic regression will be applied to identify predictors of low aspirin use among adult diabetic patients. P-value < 0.05 will be considered to declare a result as statistically significant association
