dc.description.abstract This study was investigated to assess Human Resource Development (HRD) practices and job satisfaction with a general objective of assessing employee’s satisfaction towards to human resources development practices of Haramaya University focusing on the Administrative employees of the university. The study used both primary and secondary data sources. The primary data was collected through questionnaire taking a sample of 220 respondents selected through simple random sampling technique. Besides, focus discussion and interview were used to consolidate and verify the information. Data were analyzed using both descriptive statistics and econometric model based on SPSS version 20. The finding of the study generally showed that majority of administrative employees were not satisfied in general except setting performance goals practices towards human resource development pertinent to training orientations. Majority of the respondents were not satisfied with organizational development practices at the university. Moreover, the result of the study depicted that the majority of administrative employees’ were not satisfied with their job due to poor practices of performance appraisal at the University. Therefore, based on the findings of the study, emphasis should be paid to career development practices, training and orientations for administrative employees to enhance their job satisfaction and improvement towards to organizational development practices. Attentions should also be given to performance appraisal rating practices at the university. en_US
