dc.description.abstract This study aims at analyzing the determinant of factors affect trainings and its impact on employee's performance in case of selected colleges in Harari regional state. Data were collected from academic staff of Harar poly technique and Lucy college. A sample of 202 was selected from 408 total population by using Yamane formula, which was developed in 1967. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statics. Major findings revealed that, training sessions conducted by the colleges actually does not arise from the needs of the staff. Rather due to the order, which come from TVET agency, and the most common challenges in delivering training in the study area was inconvenience timing. In addition to that, the correlation result indicates that the factors affect the training and academic staff performance has positive and significant relationship. Moreover, results of OLS model show that academic staff performance is significantly and positively affected by educational level, delivery modality, training contents, trainer's characteristics, and training materials. While it significantly and negatively affected by work experience. The researcher recommends that the training need should be identified by its importance to the organization, the organization should discuss with the all stake holders to deliver the trainings at convenient time, the trainer's should be competent enough and should have a good characteristics, the training contents should be relevant to the trainee needs and gap filling as well as easy to understand. In addition to that the training materials should be well prepared and fulfilled, which is relevant with training types, trainee's and trainer's needs. en_US
