An ileostomy is an opening (stoma) in the anterior belly as life-saving surgery to dispel waste products from the intestines to leave the body. It can decrease or prevent morbidity and mortality associated with anastomotic leakage or septicemia of ileal perforation due to late presenting acute pathologic and traumaticperitonitis; however incidence of stoma associated morbidities varies between 17% and 45% even more in developing countries. Despite all the above benefit of ileostomy and itscontrollable or treatable associated problems, there is no study done in both Hiwot Fana Specialized University Hospital and JugolHospital eventhere are very limited research done on this topic at regional and national level |
