dc.description.abstract Background:Husband’s participation in obstetrics care is an important strategy in reducing preventable maternal morbidity and mortality. However, most of the studies were focused on women participants. Objective: To assess husband’s plan to participate in birth preparedness and complication readiness and associated factors in Haramaya district, HDSS site from March 9 to April 08/2020 eastern Ethiopia. Method: A community based cross sectional study was conducted among systematically selected 653 men whose wife were pregnant and living in Haramaya HDSS site.Data were collectedusing pretested questionnaire though face to face interview andentered into Epi-Data version 3.1 and analyzed using SPSS version 20.0. Descriptive statistical analysis such as frequency distribution were used. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression model was used to see the associated factors. Adjusted odds ratio with 95% confidence interval and p-value <0.05 was used to declared level of statistical significance. Results:The result showed that the magnitude of husbands’ participation in birth preparedness and complication readiness was 55.4%(95% CI: 56%, 64%).knowledge of birth preparedness and complication readiness (AOR) = 4.18 with 95% CI: (2.05, 8.51), knowledge of danger signs during labor and delivery(AOR) = 3.19 with 95% CI: (1.52,6.71), number of wives (AOR) = 6.84; 95% CI: 4.17, 11.22) and made postpartum preparation (AOR) = 2.30, 95% CI: 1.38,3.85 were significantly associated with husband participation in birth preparedness and complication readiness. Conclusion: husbands’ participation in birth preparedness and complication readiness was found to be low. We recommend the concerned body should give education on the importance of early birth preparedness and complication readiness. en_US
