dc.description.abstract The purpose of the study was to assess the implementation of Gender Based Affirmative Action in filtu secondary and preparatory school of liban zone, Somali Regional State. The study was a descriptive case study. For the qualitative study, 14 female students who were the beneficiaries of gender based affirmative action in their University Entrance Exam, 3 parents of the school, the vice principal and the woreda education office Head were the respondents. For the survey, the vice principal, 3 parents, 22 staff members, 13 female students who passed in grade 12th lower affirmative action point participated. Availability and purposive sampling were employed in the study. For the qualitative study semi structured interviews were used and data was organized into themes. For the survey, questionnaires of both qualitative and quantitative methods were used. Table and descriptive statistics like frequency distribution, percentage were used. For the analysis triangulation of the study and means of data gathering were implemented. The results obtained were conclusively presented. There was scarcity of resources, lack of facilities, breach of rules and regulations, poor academic performance of the female students and lack of quality education at the secondary and primary levels. From huge evidence elicited the two studies corresponded to each other for the reliability of the study and the validity of the instruments used due to the triangulation of the study. The study recommends extra Gender based Affirmative Action measures, enough system support, extra resource, stopping impunity and striving for quality of education at the secondary school. en_US
