dc.description.sponsorship The purpose of this study was to assess Practices and Challenges of communication between Woreda education office and second cycle primary Schools in Chiro Woreda. Descriptive survey was the research design employed to achieve this purpose. One education office and 5 second cycle primary schools were selected purposively for the study. A total of 144 respondents were selected using various sampling techniques. The data were gathered through three different instruments: questionnaires, interviews and observation. Data obtained from respondents were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively by using statistical tools such as frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and one way ANOVA. Besides, data obtained through open ended questions, interview and observation were transcribed in to data and analyses to supplement the quantitative data. The result of this study revealed that the degree of communication between chiro woreda education office and second cycle primary school was low and the dominant communication between the two was downward communication. The test result also showed that lack of report writing skill, problem of applying new innovations such as failure of schools to provide timely feedback to WEO, lack of motivation and information delay were the major factors influencing the effectiveness of communication between WEO and second cycle primary school in the study area.
