dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the Practice and Challenges of Transformational School Leadership in Public Secondary schools of Jigjiga City Administration. To conduct this study, descriptive survey research design along with mixed method was employed. Data were collected from a total 245 participants (180 Teachers, 50 Department Heads, 5 School Principals, 5Vice Principals and 5schoo Supervisors).Principals, Vice Principals and Supervisors were selected by using purposive sampling technique while Teachers and Department Heads were selected simple random sampling and census respectively. Questionnaire and interview were used for securing data from the participants. Data gathered through questionnaire were analyzed using percentage, frequency and independent sample T-test. Data obtained through interview and open-ended questionnaire were analyzed qualitatively. Accordingly, the following results were obtained: School leaders of the study area attempting their best to exercise Transformational Leadership though not to the expect level. Lack of adequate training for transformational school Leadership, Difficulty in communicating school vision and mission achievement as needed, Lack of trust among the leaders and Followers, Lack of Motivation and commitment of school stakeholders, lack of willingness to exercise transformational leadership are some of the factors that impede the effective practice of transformational leadership in the study area. Statistically significant difference between male and female teachers in their perception about the Practice and Challenges of transformational leadership in the study area was not reported. Building trust among the leaders and Followers, respecting the ideas of others, being a good role model, Looking different angles in solving problems and Facilitates effective communication among staff are all among the possible ways to promote the practice of transformational leadership in the study area some of the suggested strategies used to enhance the practice of transformational leadership in the study area. As a result, comprehensive training on how to strengthen the study area's leaders' Transformational leadership skills should be organized en_US
