dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to assess the Factors Affecting Female Teachers in Leadership Participation in Secondary Schools in Garowe, Puntland State of Somalia with this, an attempt was made to forward possible solutions for these factors, this study descriptive survey research design was employed. The participants of this study were 257 teachers, non-women teaching staff in schools in the city the Male teachers was selected by using simple random sampling techniques. The questionnaire was distributed add 235 of Male teachers and 10 of Female teachers and 12 of non-women teaching staff of schools in the city the totally respondents in questionnaire was distributed 257 respondents. The interview of this study was discussion the 10 of school’s principals and vice principals and 10 of female staff in Ministry of education out of 15 of women staff, were also involved in the study purposively selected. The data were collected by using questionnaire, interview. Both quantitative and qualitative data analysis were employed in order to reach at results. The findings of the study exposed, higher administrators make gender bias while selecting school leader, lack of special support to females to win competition for leadership position in the education system of the City , female were strong in making decision; females are less participated as both heads and deputy head teachers: females have capability to lead Secondary schools , females assume that they were to be successful in leading school, females do not have plan and set their promotion goals to be school leader. Some of the factors which could hinder women representation in educational leadership, pressure of home responsibilities, men dominance of management position, unclear job design and hiring procedures. In the finding, the participants of the study also justified the following as the thinkable solution for the factors that affect women participation in leadership. These are providing training for women gender awareness campaign, MOE makes gender fairness when they selected in school leadership position, the MOE fighting traditions that hinder the progress of women to decreases discourage societal discrimination, change family traditional structure (societal support), sensitize society to accept women leadership, women should be self-confident women's self -motivation, and increase the female teachers in secondary schools in Garowe city. en_US
