dc.description.abstract This study was conducted to assess the teaching learning practices and challenges in implementing O-class program of government primary schools in Hossaina Administrative Town of Hadiya Zone. Based on the purpose of the study, the teaching and learning practices of the O-class program, inputs, like the teacher, learning materials, and overall facilities, including CWDs, major challenges those were faced in implementing the O-class program were assessed. The study used qualitative research methods and a case study design. Fifteen teachers from five government primary schools were selected using purposive sampling method to get relevant data. Besides, five principals and one preschool coordinator from Hossaina administrative education office were selected using availability sampling method. Totally 21 key respondents were selected. The data gathered through interview, observation, and document analysis were transcribed, analyzed, and triangulated. The findings of the study showed that the practice of the O-class program in selected preschools as good, since the basic resources like curriculum/syllabus, text books, locally made teaching materials, and the availability of qualified teachers are in place. The study shows challenges like absenteeism, language challenge, insufficient teaching time, inappropriate physical environments and facilities, inactive parental involvements, and large size class. The study recommended that, the concerned bodies, like pre-school teachers, principals, supervisors, and experts, work in collaboration with others with other stakeholders to minimize challenges in implementing the practices of the O-class education program in selected primary schools of Hossaina town administration. en_US
