dc.description.abstract The study was aimed to invastigate the Utilization of Management Information Systems in Education in secondary schoosl of East Hararghe Zone, Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia. Descriptive survey method was employed to realize the objective of the study. The study was conducted in Haramaya, Babile, and Gola Oda Woreda Education Offices and its respective secondary schools. Questionnaire, interview, focus group discussion, and document analysis were used to collect data. A total of 109 stakeholders from the three selected education office, and its secondary school were included in this study. From the three schools, 52 teachers selected via simple random sampling technique, and 27 School leaders, 21 PSTA members and 9 Woreda Education Office employees were selected by porposive techniques and they were involved in the study that were relevant to EMIS activity. Out of this, for 76 respondents questioners were distributed and that 74 respondent questionnaire were collected. The 74 data questionnaire were analyzed by descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation for quantitative. The 35 data were analyed by naration for qualitative. The obtained results indicate that EMISs are below requirement point by different factors or lack of different things such as shortage of ICT materials, trained manpower, observed to utilize EMIS as needed in the secondary schools of all Woredas. Thus, this has had a serious impact on disseminating, information utilization and managing information in secondary schools due to shortage of qualified personnel in place. It is recommended that schools should exert effort towards securing IT materials, most preferably by approaching NGOs and respective higher level educational offices like Woreda and Zonal Education Office. en_US
