dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the constraints encountered in school leadership to lead teachers' teamwork in secondary school of West Harerge Zone, Oromia Regional State. To this end, descriptive study, with both quantitative and qualitative, research method was employed. In this study, 51 school leaders and 99 teachers, and a total of 150 respondents took part from 8 sample government secondary schools. The teachers were selected by the combination of the proportional stratified sampling techniques and simple random sampling techniques. School leaders were selected by purposive sampling technique. Close and open ended questions, document analysis and interview guides were developed and fully utilized as the main data gathering instruments. Data were analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, mean value, standard deviation and T-test. The study also shows that the school leadership didn‟t clarify the team members‟ roles for all members in detail. Besides, the study also indicates that the school leadership involvement is low in providing guidance to the teachers‟ team work members to work cooperatively. Furthermore, the study appears to show that school leadership didn‟t offer strategies for setting teachers‟ team goals as expected. To alleviate the above, it was recommended that there should be conducive and attractive environment where to discuss in team and share experience with colleagues. Besides, school leaders should clarify each member‟s roles and responsibilities. Furthermore, the school leadership as well as the concerned governmental body should develop strategies, and follow and guide the teachers‟ teamwork attentively and continuously. And finally forward further study on the issue was recommended. en_US
