dc.description.abstract The main purpose of this study was to examine practices and challenges of transformational leadership: the case of Kebri dahar College of Teacher Education. To conduct this study, descriptive survey research design was employed. A total of 138 respondents (127 teachers, 1 college dean, 1 vice dean for academics, 1 vice dean for administrative, 1 student dean, and 7 department head was included in the study. College leaders were selected using availability sampling while the teachers respondents were selected using stratified random sampling techniques. The data were gathered through questionnaire and interview. Data gathered through questionnaire were analyzed using percentage, frequency, mean, standard deviation and one sample t-test. Data obtained through interview and open-ended was qualitatively analyzed. Findings from the data analysis revealed that teachers were scores undecided score with regarded dimension of transformational leadership practices by college leaders. The study clearly indicated that teacher’s perception towards transformational leadership by college leaders not much satisfactory. In addition to this, there good employee engagement and organizational performance. Ineffective management system, lack of effective training, limited resources; hastate to use transformational leadership approach are some of the major challenges of transformational leadership as the findings of the study shows. Recommendations were made. ZEO should provide short and long term training to teachers and college leaders in the area of transformational leadership in the form of workshops and seminars. The researcher recommended that, playing the leadership role should not be tied to college leaders’ position, but should be charismatic or transformational among college teachers. en_US
