dc.description.abstract The objective of the study was to examine practices and challenges of school inspection in the secondary schools of Jigjiga Town. To conduct this study, descriptive survey design was employed. For data collection purpose, mixed method instrument were used. Self- developed questionnaire was employed as the main data collection instrument in addition to interview and document analysis. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics including frequency, percentages, and mean. Qualitative data were analyzed by using description. The descriptive statistics tools such as percentage and frequency Based on the results of the study, most of the schools did not meet the minimum standard. Lack of inspection feedback implementation, lack of awareness about the importance of inspection, lack of inspection autonomy, lack of materials and shortage of human resources for inspection department were reported as problem that af ected the process of inspection. Based As the responses to item 2 of table 3 indicate, respondents were asked about Teaching is well planned, supported by suitable teaching-learning materials, and is aimed to achieve high educational results. Teachers and school leaders with the aid, were both rated the mean score as „high‟ and agreed about the issue dif erence is not observed between the responses, of two groups. This shows that teachers and school leaders agreed about the issue, that Teaching is well planned, supported by suitable teaching-learning materials, and is aimed to achieve high educational results on this, it was recommended that, the school principals, city and Region education of ice and Ministry of education should give attention in order to implement inspection recommendations given by inspectors. Educational leaders, experts, teachers and education stakeholders should give attention on school improvement plan, in order to improve schools performance. Regional education Bureau should fulfill minimum inputs including supply adequate materials and financial supports to schools and provide training and administrative support for the schools so that they better achieve in delivery of knowledge, attitudes, and skills to the students and able to make education organization focus en_US
