Abstract:
The aim of this study was to assessing English language teachers perception and practices of implementing communicative language testing. To attain this objective, a descriptive survey research design including both quantitative and qualitative research approaches was employed. The required data for the study were collected using grade eleven English language, teacher made test in 2014 E.C , questioner and semi structured interview for 30 (8 females and 22 male) English language teachers from three selected schools available sampling . The subjects of this study were selected using available sampling technique. The data analysis procedure was done based on the statistical packages for social sciences(SPSS) item analysis Thus, the questionnaires were analyzed quantitatively using mean values and Standard deviations while the interviews and document analyses were analyzed qualitatively in words. The findings revealed that most teachers were not familiar with communicative testing. This study recommends that schools and education bureaus should provide the teachers with incentives and resources. In addition to this, colleges should also adequately train teachers in both communicative teaching and testing.
