Abstract:
The main objective of this study is to assess factors affecting the implementation of Interactive Radio Instruction in Teaching English Speaking lesson in grade six of three selected government’s schools at Fitche Town. Participants of the study were Nineteen English teachers, one hundred fifteen students, three schools principals and one radio program coordinator taken as a sample. A descriptive survey study that comprised both qualitative and quantitative methods was employed in the study. The instruments that were used for data collection were: questionnaire, interview, classroom observations and document analysis. Two types of questionnaires were designed and administered to one hundred fifteen students and nineteen teachers. Among all English teachers, six teachers, three schools principal and coordinator of the regional state were interviewed. The principal methods of data analysis secured via the above tools were percentages (%), frequencies (f), and narrative descriptions. The finding was also described through frequencies, percentage and description. The major findings of the study were categorized under teachers related problems, class room related problems, instructional materials, managerial and technical supporting related problems. Therefore, it is recommended that the concerned bodies like MoE, coordinator of the regional state , the respective administrative bodies and schools principals should be arrange feedback and evaluation program, allocate budget for perches the necessarily materials , in service and during Teachers Training College capacity building training for teachers should design and teachers also committed to play the role to overcome the objectives of the speaking lesson of Interactive Radio Instruction program effectively.
